Bob was elected Highlands County Clerk of Court in the county wide general election in November 2008.  His first day of office began on January 6th, 2009.

 

Bob began his career as a public servant in the Clerk’s Office in 1971 as the Civil and Child Support Clerk.  As the County and Clerk’s Office grew, he became supervisor of Civil, Child Support, Juvenile, Probate, Criminal, Traffic and Official Records. Bob’s last position before being elected Clerk was Senior Director of Court Services.  In this role he had oversight of all court operations including budget preparation.  

 

He graduated from Sebring High School in 1968 and South Florida Community College in 1971.  He is a lifetime resident of Highlands County, born on November 15, 1950 to Bill and Lee Germaine.  He has two siblings, Gary Germaine, owner of Germaine Surveying, and Karen McClelland, an employee for the School Board of Highlands County.

 

Bob is married to Monica Germaine, who is an Administrative Assistant for Avon Park High School. They have three children and three grandchildren.  His daughter Sharon is married to Lee Elder of Avon Park.  They are both educators in the Highlands County School System and have three beautiful children; Mara, Brenna and Kolton.  His son Dustin lives in Gainesville and works for Carraba’s restaurant and Jordan, who recently completed his enlistment contract with the Florida National Guard which included a tour of duty in Iraq, is currently working on a degree from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville.

 

Bob’s involvement in our community includes;  Board of Directors South Florida Community College Foundation Board,  Board of Directors Avon Park Youth Academy Advisory Board, Highlands County Security Committee, Public Safety Coordination Council, Highlands County Insurance Committee, member of Sebring Elks Club, past Director for Heartland Legal Aid, past President of Sebring Breakfast Kiwanis Club, past president of Sebring Wrestling Club, Dixie Youth Baseball Coach, Board of Directors of Highlands County Safe House, and attends  Highlands Community Church in Sebring.

 

Bob has received his certification as a State Certified Clerk of Courts.  He also serves on several Florida Association of Court Clerks committees including District Director for District VI, Self Help / Pro Se Committee, Best Practices Committee, Technology Sub Committee / Clericus (new court case management system), and the Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS) Committee.  He has also been given the Law Day Award for having the number one rated Jury Management System in the State.  The Highlands County Clerk’s Office continues to be rated number one in juror usage in the State of Florida. 

 

His hobbies include fishing and spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.
