Clerk of the Courts

The Clerk of Courts is an elected official mandated by Article V, Section 16 of the Constitution of the State of Florida. The office of the Clerk is a complex organization that performs a wide range of record keeping, information management and financial management tasks in the Judicial System and the County Government. The Clerk is charged with 926 administrative responsibilities essential to the efficient accomplishment of the judicial and executive function of the office.

The Clerk's objective is to execute his duties in an efficient, effective, professional and courteous manner. This is accomplished by formulating policies, procedures, and programs to discharge his duties for the public and private sector. Administration is extremely important in the role as Clerk, as state statutes dictate what a Clerk's duties are, but do not dictate how to accomplish these duties. The very nature of the office and the extent of services being provided mandates that the Clerk's actions and decisions be constantly subjected to public evaluation and restraint. The most important function of the Clerk's office is service to the public. You have the right to expect and receive courteous efficient service in the offices of the Clerk of Circuit and County Court.
