Biography
Robert W. Germaine
Bob Germaine is the newly elected Highlands County Clerk of the Circuit and County Court. He was elected in the county wide general election in November 2008. Bob’s first day of office began on January 6th, 2009.
Bob graduated from Sebring High School in 1968 and South Florida Community College in 1971. He began his career as a public servant in the Clerk’s office in November of 1971 as the Civil and Child Support Clerk. As the county and inevitably the Clerk’s office grew, he became supervisor of Civil, Child Support, Probate, Criminal, Traffic, and Official Records.
He is a lifetime resident of Highlands County, born in Sebring, FL on November 15, 1950 to Bill and Minnie Lee Germaine. He has two siblings, Gary Germaine, owner of Germaine Surveying, and Karen McClelland, an employee for the Highlands County School Board.
Bob is married to Monica Germaine, who is an administrative assistant for Avon Park High School. They have three children and two grandchildren. Sharon, age 32, is married to Lee Elder of Avon Park. They are both educators in the Highlands County School System and have two beautiful daughters, Mara age 5 and Brenna age 1. Dustin, age 28, is employed at Germaine Surveying. Jordan, age 22, recently completed his career with the Florida National Guard which included a tour of duty in Iraq. He is currently working on a degree from Santa Fe Community College.
Bob currently attends Highlands Community Church. His other involvements in our community include membership in: Board of Directors for Heartland Legal Aid, Highlands County Security Committee, Public Safety Coordination Council, Highlands County Insurance Committee, Dixie Youth Baseball Coach, past President of Sebring Breakfast Kiwanis Club, past President Sebring Wrestling Club, past member of the Board of Directors for Highlands County Safe House. In addition, he was given the 2005 Law Day Award for having the number one rated Jury Management System in the State.
His hobbies include fishing and spending time with his family, especially his two beautiful granddaughters.
