Civil Traffic Infractions

Important Information!

Florida law allows thirty (30) calender days from the issue date of your infraction to comply with one of the following disposition options. Failure to comply within the time allowed shall result in the suspension of your driver's license.

  • Option One - Pay fine only

Pay the required fine for your infraction. (Refer to the fee schedule.) Points will be assessed to your driving record as well as the reflection of a guilty conviction. Payment must be received by the Clerk within thirty (30) calender days from the date the infraction is issued. Include check or money order with a copy of the citation and mail to:

L.E. Luke Brooker, Clerk of Courts
    Civil Traffic Division
    590 South Commerce Avenue
    Sebring, Florida 33870

or you may pay online at
    www.MyFloridaCounty.com

As a general rule extensions for time to pay are not allowed. It is the sole discretion of the County Judge to grant or deny additional time to pay. An extension request form must be filed at the Clerk of Courts, Traffic Division before the payment due date. It is your responsibility to contact the Clerk's office to verify whether an extension of time has been granted or denied.

  • Option Two - Hearing

If you wish to contest an infraction a written request must be submitted to the Clerk of Courts. A civil infraction hearing request form must be completed by you and received by the Clerk's office within thirty (30) calender days from the issue date of your infraction. The form may be filed in person or mailed to:

L.E. Luke Brooker, Clerk of Courts
    Civil Traffic Division
    590 South Commerce Avenue
    Sebring, Florida 33870

By choosing this option you are waiving your right to pay the fine or elect driving school. THE COURT MAY AT ITS DISCRETION IMPOSE A FINE OF UP TO $500, REQUIRE YOU TO ATTEND TRAFFIC SCHOOL (points will be assessed), SUSPEND YOUR LICENSE, OR ANY OTHER SANCTIONS THAT ARE ALLOWABLE BY LAW.

After your request has been filed at the Clerk's office a notice to appear will be mailed to you along with a civil hearing information sheet. At your request an affidavit of defense form can be provided to you by the Clerk of Court.

  • Option Three - Driving School

Pay the cost required for your infraction (Refer to the fee schedule) and submit a notarized driving school affidavit. Please read carefully the information contained in the driving school affidavit. If this option is completed points will not be assessed to your driving record and a guilty conviction will not be reflected. Within thirty (30) calender days from the issue date of your infraction submit check or money order, driving school affidavit, and a copy of your infraction to:

L.E. Luke Brooker, Clerk of Courts
    Civil Traffic Division
    590 South Commerce Avenue
    Sebring, Florida 33870

Within ninety (90) days of the submission of your cost and affidavit you must provide proof of your driving school completion to the Clerk. Failure to complete all the requirements of this option will result in the suspension of your driver’s license and additional costs.

    Important

Driving schools are private businesses. The fee that is charged for driving school is not included in the amount you pay for your infraction. In addition, the Clerk cannot refer you to any particular traffic school. Listings of traffic schools in your area may be found under the listing "Defensive Driving Schools" in your local yellow pages.

Warning ! Failure to exercise one of the options shown to satisfy your traffic violation will result in the suspension of your driver's license, a late fee in addition to the original fine amount, and a reinstatement fee. If you have any questions regarding this option please call (863) 402-6604.
