The Criminal Traffic Department provides a wide range of services relating to the process of criminal traffic offenses in Highlands County, Florida. The objective of the Criminal Traffic Department is to assist the public, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and the court by maintaining records for all criminal traffic offenses filed at the Highlands County Clerk of Courts.
Criminal Traffic Department
Criminal traffic offenses are violations of any traffic law that are classified at first or second degree misdemeanors. These offenses may be punishable by the imposition of fine and costs, or incarceration, or a combination of sanctions by the court. Specific statute information may be obtained from the Florida State legislature’s statute index.
Due to the nature of these offenses and the role of the Clerk as determined by Florida state statute, we are unable to provide legal direction relating to these offenses. Any further information regarding your criminal traffic offense should be directed to an attorney or the court.

If you have been charged with a criminal traffic offense an arraignment date has been set for you. Your appearance at this court date is required by law. Failure to appear for arraignment may result in the suspension of your driver’s license and a warrant being issued for your arrest. The Clerk does not have the ability to change this court date for you.
